Amanda’s Bakery is run by wife and husband team Amanda and Julian Simpson-Atkins who are based in the Clun Valley. Amanda took up bread making and cake baking in 2015 having previously worked in a wholefood co-op and is head baker whilst Julian gave up his full-time job to provide support and man the market stalls.
Concentrating on ‘slow’ bread such as sourdough they produce a variety of tasty and wholesome loaves as well as a selection of savoury snacks, sweet rolls and cakes. To complement this there is also a choice of home-made jams and preserves made using local and heritage ingredients such as Whinberry and quince.
With a focus on health, their range includes gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options and their cakes have a lower sugar content than shop bought alternatives. You can find them at Montgomery market every Thursday and they are happy to take orders at amandasbread.com
